Let's Talk...
In English.
My name is Andrea.
And I am Gabe.
We're glad you could join us today.
There is a lot to learn as we continue learning about clothes.
Or, as in today's lesson, what you can wear with clothes.
The lesson is called: Accessories.
I know that's a big word.
Say it again with me.
Accessories.
Excellent!
What is an accessory?
It's something that you can wear with your clothes.
There are a lot of fashionable things.
Some people like to buy purses.
Or maybe you have a necklace, or you wear rings.
Or maybe it's cold outside, and you want to get a scarf.
But fashionable, purse, necklace, ring, scarf.
What do these words mean?
We're going to talk about them in today's lesson.
So pay attention, open your magazine and let's begin.
Women enjoy shopping not only for clothes, but also for accessories.
They shop for accessories at malls, department stores, small shops and markets.
Accessories can make an outfit look better.
They can also make women look more fashionable.
Many women like to buy nice purses and shoes.
They often buy purses and shoes that match.
Women also buy earrings, necklaces and rings.
Many women also shop for pretty scarves and hats.
Well, we see that word again, accessory, right here in this Read It paragraph.
It's a big word.
And an accessory is anything that you wear with your clothes.
Of course, Andrea is here, and I have a question for you.
Are you wearing any accessories today, Andrea?
Well, yes, I am wearing some accessories today.
What kind of accessories are you wearing?
I am wearing earrings.
OK.
I am wearing rings.
I'm wearing a watch.
These are all different kinds of accessories.
That's right, there are many different kinds of accessories.
And some of them are also our key words.
Andrea just said she's wearing some rings.
That's one of our key words today.
Where do you wear rings? On your fingers.
Actually, one finger is called the ring finger.
I don't have any rings right now.
I especially don't have any on my ring finger.
But Andrea, do you have any rings?
Yes, I am wearing some rings.
I have two rings on my ring finger on my left hand.
These rings show that I am married.
And I have another ring on my right hand.
But this is just a special ring that a friend gave me.
OK, so you can wear rings from your husband or wife, or of course, from friends.
Or maybe you just like to buy rings and other accessories.
Well, you can buy these things at a market.
"Market" is a key word.
And if you go to a market, you are going to buy some things or maybe look around
because you like shopping for things.
I like shopping at markets.
I can often find very different or unique accessories at a market.
And sometimes the prices are also cheaper when you shop at a market.
There are different kinds of markets.
I think of meat or food when I think of markets... or actually, fruit.
There are many fruit markets in the city where I live.
Now you can look for clothes.
And a lot of people like to be fashionable, so they buy stylish clothes.
"Fashionable" is a key word that means stylish, or it looks good today or now.
And accessories help a woman look more fashionable.
If a woman wears nice clothes, she looks good.
But accessories can make her look very fashionable.
Finding the right purse to match your clothes can make you look fashionable.
Ooh, finding the right purse.
"Purse" is a key word.
It's something that ladies use to put things in, like their wallets or lots of
different things.
You probably keep many things inside your purse, right?
I do. I even keep accessories in my purse.
Sometimes I have an extra necklace in my purse.
And that is also an accessory that we want to talk about.
A necklace is something a woman or, well, men also wear them, wear around their
necks.
A necklace might have a special meaning, or it might just be fashionable.
Something else you might wear, especially when it's cold, is a scarf.
But if there are more than one, that is S-C-A-R-V-E-S, just like in our lesson.
You can wear a scarf around your neck.
Well, right now it's time for us to continue by learning something with
Christina.
(Chinese).
Ginger, you look uh...
Fashionable?
Maybe.
Thank you.
I went shopping for accessories.
It looks like you bought a lot of things.
That's right, I bought a purse and shoes that match.
Ladies love purses and shoes.
And I bought a new scarf.
Oh, your scarf is very um...
Fashionable?
Maybe.
Yeah, thank you.
I also bought earrings and a hat.
Yes. And now you look very, very...
Fashionable?
Maybe.
Thank you. Look. I also bought a new ring.
Oh, that is big!
Was it expensive?
Yeah, all these things were very expensive.
Hmm.
Expensive and fashionable.
Maybe.
Yeah, I look great.
Yeah.
OK, let's review our key words.
The first one is: market.
market.
This market sells all kinds of clothes and accessories.

Good job, everyone.
Now let's go and enjoy something super.
Cindy?
Oh, hi, Tony.
Cindy, what's wrong?
My boyfriend doesn't want be my boyfriend anymore.
Really?
Yes. What's wrong with me, Tony?
I... I don't know.
But I do know that it's better to talk to me.
It is?
What I mean is... I mean, friends are better if...
Friends are better when they're talking...
Oh, I need Super Sentence Man!
And I am Super Sentence Man.
You need today's super sentence.
Something can make something else better.
Use it like this, my friend.
Talking to a friend can make you feel better.
Talking to a friend can make you feel better.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
But before I leave, I want to hear you use today's super sentence.
OK.
Exercising can make you study better.
Ah, exercising can make you study better.
Genius!
What about you, Cindy?
Can you use today's super sentence for me?
You know, saying a super sentence can make your day better.
I'll try.
Chocolate and strawberries can make your ice cream taste better.
Mmm. Chocolate and strawberries can make your ice cream taste better.
They sure can.
And that is how you use a super sentence.
Friends, remember, a super sentence every day can make your English better.
Cindy, talking to a friend can make you feel better.
Maybe you're right.
Where are you going, Cindy?
To find a friend to talk to.
But...
