Lights.
Camera.
Let's Talk in English.
Hi, everyone, and welcome to LTE TV.
My name is Andrea.
And I am Gabe.
And I just want to tell everyone: Listen to the dentist.
It's very important.
It's also the name of today's lesson.
Listen to the Dentist!
What does your dentist tell you?
Well, he wants to help you take good care of your teeth.
He wants to help you be confident when you take care of your teeth.
There are many reasons to listen to the dentist.
Otherwise, he might pull out one of your teeth because it got bad.
Well um, I don't want to think about that too much.
But I did just use three of today's key words.
And we have more to talk about right here in our Read It paragraph.
Here we go.
A beautiful smile helps you feel confident.
And toothaches and cavities are not fun.
But these aren't the only reasons to take care of your teeth and gums.
If you don't, the dentist may need to pull your tooth.
This is not only painful, but also expensive.
Also, there may be a link between gum disease and heart disease.
One study found that people with gum disease are twice as likely to have heart
disease.
Hello again, everyone.
I am feeling very confident right now, very confident indeed.
Well, that's great.
I'm glad you feel confident, Gabe.
Now why do you feel so confident?
Because, Andrea, I know this first key word.
Do you know what it is?
I do. I am confident that the key word is "confident".
You are right.
I see you are confident too.
The key word is: confident.
If you are confident, if you are a confident person, that means you know
yourself.
If you are confident about something, that means you are sure about it.
And our Read It starts by saying a beautiful smile helps you feel confident.
So if you are not feeling very confident, maybe just smile, and that will help
you feel confident.
That is a great reason to smile.
Well, of course, there are many great reasons to smile.
And "reason" is a key word.
Let's talk about this.
Say it together.
reason.
Your reason for something is why you do it.
In our lesson, it says, "These aren't the only reasons to take care of your
teeth and gums." So we should take care of our teeth and gums.
Why should we do this?
Those are the reasons.
If you're late, your boss or your teacher might ask you, "What is your reason
for being late?" Why are you late?
It's always good to have a good reason for being late, right, Gabe?
That's interesting, Andrea.
I wrote that down as an example sentence too.
What's your reason for being late?
I'm not sure why that was my example sentence.
But you should have a reason for the things that you do.
We have four more key words here.
I'm confident that you can learn them.
The first one is: pull.
When a dentist pulls your tooth, or pulls out your tooth, that means your tooth
was in your mouth, but now it's not.
That kind of hurts.
Yes, it does hurt if a dentist pulls your tooth.
It hurts, it's painful, and it's also expensive.
But sometimes pulling a tooth will make you feel better.
That's true.
And you can use this word "pull" in other ways.
You can pull a door shut.
That means you close the door.
Pull the door shut.
But here in our Read It paragraph, we find out that dentists may need to pull
your teeth if your teeth are bad.
Well, we have some more good key words here.
There is a link between gum disease and heart disease.
This key word is "link." A link between something is what makes those things
similar.
There is a link between these two things.
Right. So there's a link between gum disease and heart disease.
So there is a connection between these two.
Let's use this key word in another way.
There is a link between eating lots of fruits and vegetables and being very
healthy.
Well, that's true.
There is a link between exercising and being healthy.
There's a link between studying hard and doing well on your test.
And some studies show there is a link between gum disease in your mouth and
heart disease.
"Heart" is a key word.
Your heart keeps you alive.
We all have a heart.
We all need our heart.
That's right. Your heart is in your body.
And you want to keep your heart healthy and strong.
Well, we have one more key word to talk about.
It's the verb "find." One study found that people with gum disease are twice as
likely to have heart disease.
So if a study finds something, that means it shows something that you want to
learn.
That's right.
Well friends, we have a lot more to learn today.
Let's continue with Christina.
(Chinese).
I feel pretty. Oh, so pretty. I feel pretty.
Ginger, you seem very confident today.
That's because I'm pretty.
I have beautiful teeth.
Oh. And why do you have a... a beautiful smile?
Well, it's because I take care of my teeth.
Yes. If you don't take care of your teeth...
Ouch!
Ouch... Ouch?
Yeah, you might get a cavity.
And the dentist might have to pull your tooth!
That's painful and expensive.
Yeah. So please take care of your teeth.
Yes, it's good for your teeth and good for your wallet.
Yeah. I feel pretty. I'm so pretty.
OK, friends, are you ready to review our key words?
I thought so.
The first one is: confident.
confident.
Kim is a confident person. She believes in herself.
reason.
reason.
Please tell me your reasons. Why did you do this?
pull.
pull.
Mom pulls the gray hairs out of her head.
link.

find.

No one has found a cure for the cold.
I'm sure you'll find some interesting things to learn and talk about with It's a
Rap.
Perry the Pirate here with Sailor Jack.
You will see a word.
Think of three words that sound like that word and make a rap.
The word for today is: heart.
Oh, I like hearts.
Uh, what rhymes with "heart"?
Art and apart and...
Ah, smart.
Well said, Sailor Jack.
Oh, I brought something special today.
Now Sailor Jack, give me some music there, matey.
Oh, I like this.
Take a look at this piece of art.
I made for my woman with all of my heart.
She said: Sweet darling, you're so smart.
I never want to be apart.
Oh, she's so sweet.
Uh, this is for you, darling.
I'll sing it again.
Take a look at this piece of art.
I made for my woman with all of my heart.
She said: Sweet darling, you're so smart.
I never want to be apart.
I love you, darling.
Sailor Jack, you did a good job.
