Well hello, everyone, and welcome to the Saturday show of LTE right here in LTE
TV studios.
My name is Gabe.
This week, we talked about a lot.
We learned about animals at a zoo.
We talked about what you can do at the zoo.
And we asked an important question: What can you do there?
Where are you traveling?
What can you do there?
Talk about that with somebody.
We also talked about what you need when you travel abroad.
And there's the question: Where do you want to travel?
Where do you want to go in this world?
Well, of course, Ginger will be here soon.
And we have some questions for you about this week's lessons.
So listen very carefully as we review.
Here we go.
You can see many kinds of animals at a zoo.
There are big animals, like elephants and hippos.
There are little animals, like spiders and insects.
Some animals don't move much, like turtles and snails.
Other animals move a lot, like monkeys and birds.
Are you scared of any animals, like bears or rats?
Don't worry.
The zoo is a safe place!
What is your favorite animal at the zoo?
Oh, hi, Susie!
Hi, Ken. What are you doing?
I'm looking at pictures from my trip to the zoo.
When did you go there?
Yesterday.
Look at this picture.
Is that a hippo? It has a big mouth!
It does.
Hippos eat 100 pounds of food every day.
That's a lot!
Elephants eat more.
Some elephants eat 450 pounds each day.
I like this picture of the monkeys.
They are my favorite animals at the zoo.
Monkeys are fun.
Are you petting a turtle in this picture?
Yes. Some turtles can live 100 years.
Wow!
I love the bears at the zoo.
They're so calm.
Calm? Really?
I'm scared of bears.
Don't be scared.
The bears are at the zoo!
What can you do at a zoo?
Find out before you go!
Can you go on a night safari?
On a night safari, you'll see animals like lions and tigers.
They sleep during the day, so they're more active at night.
Does the zoo have a behind-the-scenes tour?
Follow a zookeeper and get close to many animals.
Maybe you can help feed some animals like giraffes, elephants or pandas.
Your next zoo experience can be exciting!
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Let's Talk!
We have a very special guest with us today.
His name is Zookeeper Zane.
Let's welcome him.
Zookeeper Zane, tell us about your zoo.
What can we do there?
Well, do you like lions and tigers?
Sure!
But they're usually sleeping when I go to a zoo.
Lions and tigers are much more active at night.
You'll want to go on a night safari, so you can watch them.
A night safari sounds fun!
Or would you like to touch a giraffe or an elephant?
Is that safe?
It is when you're with a zookeeper.
You can go on a behind-the-scenes tour.
So I can see what a zookeeper does?
That's right.
And you can help feed some of the animals.
Really? Could I help feed a panda?
Sure!
I'm ready to go to the zoo!
Millions of people visit Beijing, China, every year.
They see famous places.
They enjoy museums.
They learn about Chinese culture.
They eat Beijing roast duck and other delicious Chinese foods.
Many also go to the Beijing Zoo.
There they can see pandas.
In Beijing, people learn about Chinese history.
They visit the Forbidden City.
They go to the Temple of Heaven.
And they climb the Great Wall!
Hi, Susie! I am so excited!
Why are you excited?
My mother and I are going to Beijing.
Really! You're going to China?
Is Beijing an exciting city?
Oh, yes! I can see and do many things there.
What can you do in Beijing? Tell me.
I can eat delicious Chinese food!
I love Beijing roast duck!
Are there museums in Beijing?

Fun! And is the Great Wall near Beijing?
Yes, it is. I want to climb it!
What do you need to travel abroad?
Besides a ticket and some money, you need a passport.
Your government gives you a passport.
Your passport shows you are a citizen of your country.
You need a passport to leave your country and to enter another one.
Sometimes you also need a visa to enter another country.
Usually, you must get a visa before you travel.
Plan ahead, so you have enough time to get one.
Rob, do you have a passport?
Yes, I do. But I don't use it very often.
I don't have a passport.
But maybe I should get one.
Are you going to take a trip abroad?
I'd like to.
I want to go visit some Asian countries.
You should! I love to travel in Asia!
And I love to eat delicious Asian food!
What countries do you want to visit?
I want to go to China.
But I'm not sure about other places.
You need a visa to enter China.
I do? Can't I just use my passport?
No. You need a passport and a visa.
How do I get a visa for China?
You get one from the Chinese government.
Look online. You'll find all the information there.
Lots of people dream of traveling abroad.
Some want to go to Europe to see castles, palaces and famous art museums.
France and Spain have more visitors each year than any other country.
Others dream of traveling to Africa.
They want to see the pyramids in Egypt.
Or they want to go on a safari and see wild animals like elephants, lions and
giraffes.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Did you hear that Lily is going to Beijing?
I did. She'll have a great time.
I'd love to travel abroad.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Where do I dream of traveling?
Africa!
So you can see wild animals, like elephants?
Yes. And I'd like to visit Egypt and see the pyramids too!
If I could go anywhere in the world, I'd go to Europe.
Why?
I love the culture there.
I could stay in a castle!
Lots of people go to Europe, don't they?
Yes. France and Spain have more visitors than any other country in the world.
Wow, those countries must be crowded.
Yes. But that's OK. I'd never be alone!
Lonely. Never be lonely.
I'll be with people crowded around.
Very, very nice.
It's true. If Rob visits Spain or France, he might see lots of crowds.
Well, I'm here with Ginger.
And I'm here with Gabe.
And we have some questions just for you.
Were you listening carefully to the lessons?
The first question is: What animal is Susie scared of?
What animal is Susie scared of?
Were you listening?
She's scared of bears.
That's right, she's scared of bears... and monkeys.
Hey!
I'm just kidding, Ginger.
She absolutely loves monkeys.
Now my dear monkey friend, what question do you have for us?
Question number two.
Where will Lily and her mom travel to?
Hmm, good question.

And they will see the Great Wall.
And the Forbidden City.
And pandas.
And ducks.
Ducks?
Well, yes. Lily loves Beijing roast duck.
Oh, I'm getting hungry.
I'm not. Those poor little ducks.
Oh. Right.
Uh, should we maybe take a moment to be silent for the ducks?
Yeah. Poor ducks.
Hmm. Well, Ginger, I'm still hungry.
I'm going to get a snack.
Um, I think it's time for us to take a break.
OK. But don't order duck.
Don't worry. Iwon't.
