Lights.
Camera.
Let's Talk in English.
Hey, everyone, and welcome to LTE TV.
My name's Gabe.
And hi, everybody. My name is Andrea.
Today we are talking about Earth Day.
Yes, Earth Day is a special day to remember the Earth, and also to think about
how we can take care of the Earth.
The Earth is our planet.
We want to protect it.
We want to take care of nature, recycle, and think about the future.
Well, I just used our key words from today.
And you will also see all of these key words in today's Read It.
So open your magazine, find today's Read It.
Do you see it?
Yes? OK, good.
Now we can begin.
Earth Day is April 22.
Earth Day is a special day to celebrate our planet!
On Earth Day, we admire and appreciate nature.
We also think about how to protect the planet.
One good way to do that is to recycle!
Put things in recycling bins.
Reuse things too. Don't throw them away.
If we take care of our planet, future generations will have a healthy
environment.
Protect our planet every day - not just on Earth Day!
Protect our planet every day - not just Earth Day.
I agree.
Well, Earth Day is a special day where we celebrate our Earth.
And what day is Earth Day?
I know.
This year it's on a Sunday.
It's in two days - on April 22.
That's when we can celebrate Earth Day.
OK, and we can celebrate by looking at our key word.
planet.
Planet Earth.
planet.
Now our planet is Earth.
That is the planet that we live on.
But is Earth the only planet?
Gabe, can you help us with that?
Nope, it's not.
We have Mercury, we have Venus, we have Mars.
We also have Jupiter and Saturn and Uranus and Neptune.
And these are all different kinds of planets.
And Pluto.
Pluto is also... Well, Pluto used to be a planet.
Yes. OK, Gabe just said many different names of planets.
And it's good for us to know about them.
But we just want you to remember the word "planet." And remember our planet is
Earth.
We celebrate our planet Earth on Earth Day.
Now what can you do on Earth Day?
Well, you can admire and appreciate nature.
"Nature" is also a key word.
Nature is what you see when you are outside.
Nature includes things that are natural.
A building is not part of nature.
But trees, flowers and plants, mountains, rivers and lakes, those are all part
of nature.
And I like to enjoy nature.
How can you enjoy nature?
You can go for a walk outside.
Take a hike into the mountains.
You can go swimming in the ocean or in a river.
These are different ways to enjoy nature.
And I like how our Read It says "admire and appreciate nature." When you admire
something, you think it is wonderful and beautiful.
When you appreciate something, you say thank you for it.
And we do want to admire and appreciate nature and our Earth.
We also want to protect our Earth.
Let's talk about this key word.
protect.
When you protect something, you make sure it... is OK, you make sure it has
everything it needs.
When we protect the Earth, we make sure the Earth is OK.
When you go outside and play in the sun, it's important to protect your skin.
Put sunscreen on, or put something on that helps to protect your skin.
And you can protect the Earth when you recycle.
When you recycle, you use something that might be trash, but you use it again in
a different way.
We can recycle paper and cans.
You can recycle other things as well.
Recycling will help our future.
"Future" is also a key word.
The future is anything that is ahead of now.
Tomorrow is the future.
Twenty years from now is the future.
That's right.
Today we see this word as an adjective.
Future generations.
That means generations of people that are not around yet.
We can talk about future technology - technology that has not yet been invented.
Technology we don't have yet is future technology.
"Environment" is also a key word.
The land, water and air... nature is all part of our environment.
We have more to learn now with Christina.
(Chinese).
Happy Earth Day to you.
Ginger, why are you singing Happy Earth Day?
Because the Earth is having a special day.
April 22 is Earth Day.
That's true!
How do people celebrate Earth Day?
They sing Happy Earth Day to You.
No. On Earth Day, people admire and appreciate nature.
By singing?
No, by thinking about ways to protect the planet.
OK. Hmm, I'm thinking.
Uh, one good way is to recycle.
Oh yeah, recycle.
Another good way is to reuse.
Oh yeah, recycle and reuse.
And then our Earth will have a healthy environment.
And a happy Earth Day.
Happy Earth Day to you.
Happy Earth Day to you.
Uh, Ginger...
OK, happy Earth Day, everybody.
You can sing too.
Happy Earth Day to you.
Earth Day is April 22.

All right, let's go and enjoy a rap for today.
Hi, everyone. Today I brought my little ant friend.
He's going to join us for It's a Rap!
Well, you will see a word.
Think of three words that rhyme with that word and make a rap.
OK, today's word is: protect.
OK, so what rhymes with "protect"?
Un, expect and correct and...
Insect.
Insect!
Good. Like my friend!
OK, let's get started.
I like that.
His name is Freddy. He's a small insect.
An important animal. That is correct.
A bug that you should try to protect.
But that is not what a bug will expect.
Hey, I like that.
OK, here we go.
