OK. Lights.

Let's Talk in English.
Hi, everybody, and welcome to LTE TV.
My name is Andrea.
And my name is Gabe.
We're glad you could join us today.
We hope that you are having a good day.
Here's my question for you.
How's your attitude?
Our lesson is called: Your Attitude.
So you can think about this: How's your attitude?
Do you have a positive attitude or a negative attitude?
Well, "attitude" is a key word from today.
And we have some other ones we want to talk about.
You can expect good things.
So right now open up your magazine, turn to our Read It paragraph for today, and
let's get started.
Do you have a positive attitude?
You will live longer and be healthier and happier if you do.
But positive thinking takes effort.
Here are a few tips to help you think positively.
- Each time you catch yourself thinking a negative thought, reject the thought.
Think a positive one instead.
- Don't think, "I cannot," think, "I can try" instead.
- Open your mind to positive thinking and expect positive results.
Good. Expect positive results.
Hmm, I'm going to do that right now with a question for Andrea.
Andrea, what will happen if you have a positive attitude?
Well, you will live longer and be happier if you do.
That's right. Happier and healthier.
I knew I could expect a good answer from you.
Well friends, we do have some key words.
The first one here is: attitude.
attitude.
How's your attitude?
How's your mood?
Your attitude is the way you view things, the way you look at things.
Do you have a good attitude?
That means you are seeing things in a good way.
If you have a bad attitude, that's kind of negative, and it might affect other
people too.
Right. So when you have a positive attitude, you see the good in all things.
When you have a negative attitude, you can only see the bad things or the wrong
things.
So you can choose your attitude.
But it's not always easy to choose your attitude.
Sometimes we do just have a bad attitude.
But you might want to try to have a positive attitude.
That's right, you need to try because difficult things aren't easy.
They take effort.
Having a positive attitude takes effort.
Effort's a key word.
The effort that you make is the work that you do for something.
So if you want to have a positive attitude, you need to try, you need to work at
it.
It takes effort.
It takes effort.
If you're a student, it takes effort to learn.
Yeah.
It takes effort to finish your homework.
Practicing English also takes effort, doesn't it, Gabe?
That's right. It does take effort.
But thank you for your effort.
We appreciate the effort.
We have some other key words here.
Each time you catch yourself thinking a negative thought, reject the thought.
So "reject" is our key word.
That means to say no to something.
Reject a negative thought.
Right, reject a negative thought.
But of course, don't reject a positive thought.
What are some things that you reject?
Well, maybe you reject a plan.
If somebody says let's do something and you don't want to, well, then you reject
the plan.
Andrea, I asked a girl to go out with me the other day, but she rejected me.
She rejected you.
Yep.
Well, I guess that also happens sometimes, Gabe.
Yes, it does.
Are you OK?
Well, I feel rejected.
But I think I'll be OK.
And I need to just keep moving on, and well...
Well, maybe you can expect something positive next time you ask a girl out.
You're right.
Expect good things.
I will expect good things.
Can you help us talk about that key word?
I can.
Our key word is "expect." When you expect something, you think that it will
happen.
You expect things to happen.
If you are positive, well, then you expect good things to happen.
I expect today will be great.
I expect Christina has some things to teach us.
Let's go and spend some time with her now.
(Chinese).
I have a positive attitude.
Oh. Is that good?
Yes, it's very good.
I can be healthier and happier.
Ooh, OK. Let me try...
Ginger, what are you doing?
I'm trying positive thinking.
It's hard work.
Well, uh, right.
Positive thinking takes effort.
I give up. I can't do it.
Aha! That is a negative thought.
Reject it and think of a positive one instead.
OK, positive thought.
Yes, I can! Yes, I can!
Can what?
Yes, I can open my mind to positive thoughts, like bananas.
Great!
So now what do I do?
Expect positive results.
And?
And say goodbye.
Oh. Goodbye.
Positive...
Do you have a positive attitude?
You will live longer and be healthier and happier if you do.
But positive thinking takes effort.
Here are a few tips to help you think positively.

Think a positive one instead.
- Don't think, "I cannot," think, "I can try" instead.
- Open your mind to positive thinking and expect positive results.
Let's practice our key words with a good attitude.
And our first key word is: attitude.
attitude.
Gina's attitude is great. She's always ready to help others.
effort.
effort.
This job isn't easy. It takes effort.
reject.
reject.
The boss rejected my plan. He said it was too expensive.
expect.
expect.
John expects to finish his work by 5:00 today.
And I'm expecting to hear some music pretty soon.
I think it's time for a rap.
It's a Rap!
Hey, hey, you will see a word.
Think of three words that rhyme with that word and make a rap.
The word for today is: attitude.
What rhymes with "attitude"?
Well, mooed, rude, and...
Yes! Thank you, Jack.
Food.
Music.
OK.
My cow friend Beefy, she's so rude.
She always has a bad attitude.
When I walked by her, she just mooed.
Did she think I should give her food?
A little faster now.
Here we go.
My cow friend Beefy, she's so rude.
She always has a bad attitude.
When I walked by her, she just mooed.
Did she think I should give her food?
I don't think so, Beefy.
It's a Rap.
