Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Saturday Show of Let's Talk in English.
My name is Gabe.
And I'm glad that you could join us here on LTE TV.
What did we talk about this week?
Well, many things.
We talked about collecting things.
Some people like to travel.
And when they travel, they like to collect things from the places that they go
to.
Some people have very strange collections.
Of course, a common collection is maybe a coin collection, collecting coins or
stamps.
What else did we talk about?
Well, it's important to eat right.
You want to be healthy, don't you?
Yes, you do.
And right now it's time for us to review our lessons from this week.
But pay attention because Ginger and I will have some questions just for you in
a moment.
My friend loves sheep.
She collects them.
She has 30 real sheep.
In her house, she has pictures of sheep.
She has cups with sheep on them.
She has books about sheep.
She has toy sheep.
Why does she collect sheep?
She likes them!
Some people collect things to remember places.
People travel to new places.
There, they buy something for their collection.
It may be a spoon or a refrigerator magnet.
Hi, Susie. What's in the box?
It's a toy dog.
I collect dog things.
Oh. Do you have lots of dog things?
Yes. I have dog refrigerator magnets.
I have dog books and dog pictures.
I have dog toys too.
You have a big collection of dog things.
I do.
Do you collect anything else?
I have some sheep things.
I like sheep. But I don't collect them.
What do you collect?
I collect pens.
I travel to places. And I get pens there.
Then I can remember the places.
How many do you have?
I have about 300.
Wow!
Do you have any dog pens?
Yes, I do.
Can you give me one for my dog collection?
Sure!
People collect stamps more than any other thing.
Coin collections, rock collections and baseball card collections are also
common.
People also collect strange things.
Some collect hair from famous people.
A man in America collects toothpaste.
He started collecting it in 2002, and now he has the world's largest toothpaste
collection.
Some people might think these collections are boring or dumb.
But for the collector, they are interesting and valuable.
Hello, everyone, and welcome to Let's Talk!
We have a very, very special guest with us today.
His name is Mr. Collector!
Welcome to our show, Mr. Collector.
Thank you.
I love to talk about my collections.
What do you collect?
I collect stamps, rocks and coins.
Those are common things to collect.
Why do you collect them?
Because they are interesting.
And I like to show them to people.
Did you bring anything to show us?
This is one of my most interesting rocks.
What else do you collect?
I have about 100 collections.
I collect soda cans.
Are those valuable?
They are to me.
Interesting.
What is your largest collection?
My baseball card collection is my largest.
I have more than 100,000 cards.
Wow.
Where do you keep your collections?
I have two houses, one for my collections and one for me.
You try to eat right.
You want to be healthy.
But sometimes you eat unhealthy foods.
Some foods have a lot of sugar in them.
Other foods have a lot of salt.
You can eat these foods sometimes.
But don't eat them all the time!
Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.
Eat different ones every day.
They are good for your body.
Hi, Ken.
Are you eating an apple again?
Yes, I am. I like apples.
I eat one or two every day.
Do you eat other fruits?
Sometimes.
Apples are good for me.
I know. But your body needs other fruits and vegetables too.
You're right. I eat carrots too.
I know! You eat carrots every day.
I like carrots.
But what about other vegetables?
I eat some other vegetables.
How about you?
I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.
That's good. You always eat right.
No, I don't.
I love sugar. I eat a lot of sweet foods.
I like foods with salt. I eat too much salt.
Well, we don't always eat right.
But we can keep trying!
Do you like to exercise?
Some people do.
They run, swim or bike just for fun.
They may enjoy competing in races too.
For other people, exercise is not fun.
If that describes you, what can you do?
Find an exercise buddy!
Make a plan to exercise with someone.
Then you are more likely to do it.
So find a friend and jog, swim or play badminton with them today!
Excuse me, Miss, can I talk to you?
I'm doing a story about exercise.
Sure. I need to take a break.
Great!
Do you enjoy exercising?
Sometimes. I enjoy jogging.
Do you ever compete in races?
No. I don't run very fast.
Do you do anything else for exercise?
I play badminton with a friend every Thursday, but she's not here today.
So you exercise with a friend a lot.
Yes. I'm more likely to exercise when I make a plan with a friend.
That's good.
How about you?
What do you do for exercise?
Oh! I like to swim or bike.
I also play badminton sometimes.
Really? Would you like to play a game with me?
Sure!
People have different ideas about how to be healthy.
Some people will advise you to take lots of vitamins and supplements.
One popular supplement is fish oil.
Others tell you to just eat good food.
That's all your body really needs.
Some people believe that a certain diet will improve your health.
Others believe that diets limit you too much.
Another idea is that eating smaller meals more often is good for your body.
Can we take a break, Rob?
I need to eat lunch.
Lunch? But it's only 10:30!
Then it's my second breakfast.
What?
I was having some health problems.
So my doctor advised me to eat six meals a day.
Six meals a day?
Now that's a diet I would like!
You don't eat twice as much food, Rob.
You just eat more often.
Oh. That sounds like a good idea.
Has your health improved?
Yes, this diet is good for me.
Some diets don't seem very good.
Why not?
Some diets limit people to only eating certain things.
So they don't get food from all the food groups.
Maybe they take vitamins and supplements.
Do you take any supplements?
I take fish oil.
Me too!
Hi there, everybody.
I'm here with Ginger and...
And I'm here with Gabe.
Yes, you are.
And we have some questions just for you.
That's right. We have 300 questions for you.
Um, no, no, Ginger.
We don't have 300 questions.
We only have two.
Now the first question is: How many pens does Ken have?
How many pens does Ken have?
I know!
You know? Good.
He has two pens.
Uh... no, no, no. No, Ginger.
He has many more than just two pens.
He has 300 pens.
But you said we only have two questions, not 300.
You're right. Two questions.
And the answer to the first question is 300 pens.
I'm so confused.
Yeah, I think so too.
That's OK.
You ask the second question, OK?
OK, OK.
Question number 300 is: How many baseball cards does Mr. Collector have?
OK, this is a pretty big number.
Are you ready for it?
The answer is...
The answer is six.
No. No, no, no, silly.
The answer is: Mr. Collector has more than 100,000 baseball cards.
Wow! I though the answer was six.
No, no, no.
Six is how many meals Susie's doctor told her to eat every day.
I'm so confused.
I hate math. Yikes.
This isn't math, Ginger.
That's OK.
We're going to take a break now.
So you can stop thinking about hard numbers, OK?
Well, right now let's take a break, OK?
Let's take300 breaks.
