Hello friends, welcome back.
Now it's time for a Key Word...
Story.
Yes, a Key Word Story.
We're going to use today's key words to make a story.
I hope it's a good one.
OK, I will start.
Gertrude is hungry.
She has an idea.
She is going to bake a chocolate cake.
But she needs oil to bake the cake.
Her mother advised her to go to the supermarket to get a certain kind of oil.
This oil will improve the taste of the cake.
But of course, Gertrude will not eat the cake until after her meal.
Yes, that is true.
And that is our key word story.
Yes!
All right, you can do one too.
Come up with an even better key word story.
Right now it's time for us to continue with Conversation A.
Can we take a break, Rob?
I need to eat lunch.
Lunch? But it's only 10:30!
Then it's my second breakfast.
What?
I was having some health problems.
So my doctor advised me to eat six meals a day.
Six meals a day?
Now that's a diet I would like!
You don't eat twice as much food, Rob.
You just eat more often.
Well, Susie needs to eat lunch or her breakfast... actually, her second
breakfast.
Here we see the word "second." That means she has already had one breakfast.
This is breakfast number two, so this is her second breakfast.
How many breakfast do you eat?
Well, we know that Susie's doctor advised her to eat six meals a day.
She got this advice from her doctor.
Now our key word is "advise." When someone advises you to do something, they
want you to do something that will help you.
So what they advise you with is advice.
The verb is "advise," but the noun is "advice," A-D-V-I-C-E.
Can you give me some advice?
Or can you advise me about something?
Well, let's try to use this phrase in another way.
My mom advised me to do my homework right after I get home.
My teacher advised me to start working on the project.
My friends advise me about some of my problems.
So do you give advice to your friends?
Or do you ask your friends to advise you on things?
Well, I advise you to get ready to learn with Conversation B.
Oh. That sounds like a good idea.
Has your health improved?
Yes, this diet is good for me.
Some diets don't seem very good.
Why not?
Some diets limit people to only eating certain things.
So they don't get food from all the food groups.
Maybe they take vitamins and supplements.
Do you take any supplements?
I take fish oil.
Me too!
Well, we found out that Rob and Susie both like to be healthy.
They both take supplements with their meals.
What kind of supplement do they take?
Well, it's called fish oil.
Fish oil.
Rob says, "I take fish oil." What else can you take?
You can say: I take vitamins every day.
Or, I take supplements with my meals.
You can take medicine if you are feeling sick.
But do you talk about other food like this?
No. You say: I eat food.
But with medicine and vitamins, you "take" vitamins, you "take" medicine, you
"take" supplements.
Well, at the beginning of this conversation, Rob says, "That sounds like a good
idea." That sounds like something.
That sounds like a good deal.
It's very cheap.
Or, that sounds like a bad idea.
Don't do it.
I advise you not to do it.
Or, we're going to go to that restaurant tonight?
That sounds like a plan.
That sounds like a good plan.
And right now, it sounds like a great idea to review our lesson.
Let's do that together.
People have different ideas about how to be healthy.
Some people will advise you to take lots of vitamins and supplements.
One popular supplement is fish oil.
Others tell you to just eat good food.
That's all your body really needs.
Some people believe that a certain diet will improve your health.
Others believe that diets limit you too much.
Another idea is that eating smaller meals more often is good for your body.
Can we take a break, Rob?
I need to eat lunch.
Lunch? But it's only 10:30!
Then it's my second breakfast.
What?
I was having some health problems.

Calendar Phrase.
It's good for you.
It's good for you.
(Chinese).
Have some homemade soup.
It's good for you.
Really? What's in the soup?
Carrots are in the soup.
It's good for you.
Oh. What else is in the soup?
Tomatoes are in the soup.
It's good for you.
What else is in the soup?
Corn is in the soup.
It's good for you.
Great. I'll eat a big bowl of your soup.
OK.
But if you eat too much soup, it's bad for you.
Oh.
It's good for you.
It's good for you.
(Chinese).
It's time to Answer It!
Here is question number one.
What supplement does Rob take?
What supplement does Rob take?
Well, I know the answer.
It swims in the water.
OK well, no.
Uh, it comes from something that swims in the water.
That's right.
The answer is: fish oil.
OK. Andrea, I have a question for you.
The question is: What vitamins or supplements do you take? And why?
Those are such big words.
What vitamins or supplements do you take?
Good question.
I take something called Juice Plus.
Ooh.
Juice Plus is fruits and vegetables.
I take vegetables in the morning and fruits in the evening.
It's always good to have more fruits and vegetables in our lives.
I think I need to try that.
OK friends, we want to thank you for joining us here today.
And we'll see you next time right here on...
Let's Talk in English.
Goodbye, friends.
Goodbye.
