(Music).
Are you ready?
I'm ready.
OK. Lights.
Camera.
Let's Talk in English.
Well hello, everybody. And welcome to LTE TV.
My name is Gabe.
And I'm Andrea.
We are so glad you joined us for another week of learning together.
So what time is it?
Well, it's time to learn.
"What Time Is It?" is also the title of our lesson today.
We are going to learn how to talk about time.
Are you wearing a watch?
Or is there a clock in the room you are in?
Well, that can tell you what time it is.
And we have many more things to talk about today, don't we?
That's right. We don't have a lot of time to talk right now.
We need to continue. We need to get started.
Open up your magazine, and let's find the Read It.
Here we go.
What time is it?
Are you wearing a watch?
Look at your watch and find out the time.
You can also look at a clock.
Some people check the time often.
They are never late. They are always early!
What about you?
Maybe something starts at 8 o'clock.
You can get there in half an hour.
When do you leave?
Well, do you want to be early... or late?
Well hello, friends.
We're talking about time today.
And we have a key word right here.
It is the word "time." What is time?
Time is part of our lives - the minutes, the seconds, the hours, the days, the
years.
Are you having a good time?
I hope you are.
Time is part of everyday life.
That is true.
And time is very important.
So we often ask the question: What time is it?
Now how do you know what time it is?
Well, you can check a clock to see what time it is.
And "clock" is also a key word.
A clock tells you what time it is during the day.
You might have a clock on your wall.
Or maybe you have a small clock sitting on your desk.
What time does your clock say?
Is it 8:25 or 9:42?
If your clock is wrong, then you have to set your clock, or set the time on your
clock.
What time is it? Check your clock.
Another way you can check what time it is is to use your watch.
Now a watch kind of looks like a small clock.
But you wear it, so we don't call it a clock.
Then it's called a watch, W-A-T-C-H.
And we also see that in our Read It.
Now another word to talk about time is "hour." Hour.
Now how many minutes are in an hour, Gabe?
How many minutes in one hour?
Uh well, 60. There are 60 minutes in an hour, right?
You're right. There are 60 minutes in an hour, and 24 hours in a day.
Now we see this word "hour" in another key word.
That is "half an hour." Now if there are 60 minutes in an hour, how many minutes
are in half an hour, Gabe?
I know, I know! There are 30 minutes in half an hour, right?
You are right.
Yes!
Good job.
So an hour has 60 minutes; half an hour has 30 minutes.
I'll see you in half an hour.
I'll see you in 30 minutes.
I'll see you in 60 minutes.
But if you want to get there early, you could say, "I'll be there in 50
minutes." "Early" is a key word.
If you are early, that means you are supposed to be somewhere at a certain time,
but you get there earlier.
I'm going to be there at 3:00, but I will be early.
I'll get there at 2:50. I am early.
And as we talk about time, it's important to think about being somewhere early
or late.
Our last key word in our Read It is "o'clock." When you are talking about a time
like nine o'clock, that means it is exactly 9:00.
When you look at your clock, it is 9:00, so it's nine o'clock.
We use this word after the numbers 1 to 12 when we're talking about time.
Well Andrea, I think it's time for us to go and learn more with Christina right
now.
(Chinese).
Are you wearing a watch?
Yes, I always wear a watch.
What time is it?
It's time to talk about the lesson.
I know that. But what time is it?
You always ask me that.
Why do you check the time so often?
I don't want to be late.
What does your watch say?
My watch doesn't say anything.
You have to look at it.
Very funny.
Well, maybe that's why they call it a "watch." Watch! Look at it.
Very funny.
Now what time is it?
What time is it?
Are you wearing a watch?
Look at your watch and find out the time.
You can also look at a clock.
Some people check the time often.
They are never late. They are always early!
What about you?
Maybe something starts at 8 o'clock.
You can get there in half an hour.
When do you leave?
Well, do you want to be early... or late?
It's time to review our key words.
Please say them with us.
time.
time.
What time does your class start?
clock.
clock.
Look at the clock. What time is it?

Betty is always early. She is never late.

Class starts at 10 o'clock.
half hour.
half an hour.
half hour.
Or you can say: half an hour.
Last year, our lunch break was an hour. Now, it's only a half hour.
Well, now it's time to see what Lucy Says.
I'm excited.
I'm having lunch with my friend at the cafe.
What time are you meeting your friend?
I'm meeting her at 11 o'clock.
And what time is it now?
It's 11:05.
Oh, no! I have to go!
What time...?
What time...?
That is today's Useful Sentence.
What time does school start?
What time are you leaving?
What time are you going to the airport?
What time is it?
What time are you going to watch the movie?

Well, what time is it now?
