(Music).
Hey, everybody.
Now it's time for What's that Word?
What's that Word?
What's that Word?
I have a key word in mind.
Now, the letters are not in the right places.
Your job is to figure out what the word is.
Here are the letters.
Are you ready? Good.
D-R-E-U.
What's that word?
D-R-E-U.
Come on, Andrea, you can do it.
Come on, do it, Andrea.
I'm trying. I'm trying. I... I just want to think about it. I want to get it
right.
Hurry up. Hurry up! What's that word?
Gabe, don't be rude!
I'm being rude?
You're being...
What?
Rude! That's it!
D-R-E-U becomes R-U-D-E, RUDE.
Now of course, it's not nice to be rude, is it?
No, it's not.
But I'm glad you got the word, Andrea.
You did a great job.
Good job.
Thank you.
All right. Well friends, it's time for us now to continue with our lesson.
Let's go to Conversation A.
Carol, you're a very social person.
Have you always been so outgoing?
Yes. I was even outgoing as a child!
I'm outgoing now, but I was shy when I was younger.
That's hard to believe!
You're a TV show host now.
I know. I don't mind being on TV.
Actually, I love it!
But you didn't like getting attention before?
No. I hated attention!
Well, Carol has always been outgoing.
She was never shy.
We learned more about our friends' personalities in Conversation A.
We found out that Rob is outgoing now, but he wasn't always outgoing.
Rob says, "I'm outgoing now, but I was shy when I was younger." I'm outgoing
now, but I was shy when I was younger.
Now let's try to use this sentence in another way.
You can use it with different adjectives.
Take out "outgoing" and "shy," and make a true sentence about you.
I'm rich now, but I was poor when I was younger.
Or you can say, "I'm happy now, but I was sad when I was younger." Think of a
sentence that is true about you and your personality.
Has your personality changed, or has something in your life changed since you
were younger?
Well, Carol says, "That's hard to believe!" Now when you hear something, but you
have trouble thinking that it's true, you can say that's hard to believe.
That's hard to believe.
Well, let's keep learning more right now.
Now you meet new people every day.
And you're so good at talking to them!
Thank you.
But I didn't like talking to people when I was a kid.
Did people think you were unfriendly?
Yes. They probably thought I was rude too!
But I wasn't.
Our personalities can change, can't they?
They can, and I'm glad!
Becoming more outgoing helped me find the perfect job!
Rob has changed a lot since he was a kid.
He did not like talking to people when he was younger.
He was very shy.
But as Carol says, "Now you meet new people every day. And you're so good at
talking to them!" You're so good at talking to them.
You're so good at doing something.
What are you good at?
Or maybe you know someone else who is very good at something, you can say,
"You're so good." You're so good at dancing!
You're so good at playing the piano!
You're too good playing this game!
I don't want to play with you. I will lose.
You're so good at it!
And Rob is very good at talking to people now.
He didn't use to be this way though.
He didn't like talking to people when he was a kid.
But now we know what he thinks about his job.
At the very end of this conversation, he says, "Becoming more outgoing helped me
find the perfect job!" The perfect job.
What's the perfect job?
Is it being a doctor, or being a pianist, or being a basketball player, or an
artist?
What's the perfect job?
Maybe you don't know what the perfect job for you is yet, but one day you will.
Christina has many things she wants to share with us.
Let's pay attention and learn something with her.
(Chinese).
Now let's review today's lesson.
Are you shy?
Shy people often feel nervous when they meet new people.
They may feel uncomfortable talking in front of a group.
Some people think shy people are unfriendly or even rude.
But they're not!
They just don't want a lot of attention.
On the other hand, outgoing people usually don't mind getting attention.
They are very social and enjoy making new friends.
They are confident when they talk to people.
Carol, you're a very social person.
Have you always been so outgoing?
