(Music).
Well hey, everybody.
Now it's time for What's That Word?
What's That Word?
What's That Word?
And I have a word.
It's a key word from today.
It's your job to figure out what this word is because the letters will not be in
the right places.
Now the letters are: T-A-R.
It's very short.
What's that word?
T-A-R is TAR.
Well.
That's not the right word.
No.
T-A-R. So I need to put the letters in a different place.
I know!
You know? Yes?
Do you know?
Yes. T-A-R becomes R-A-T.
The word is RAT.
Ooh, a rat. But a rat is a kind of pet.
Do you have a pet rat?
Or maybe you have a pet spider or something else.
There are many different kinds of pets... and many different kinds of words.
And friends, we do have some conversations that we're going to look at today.
Let's go now to Conversation A.
Thank you for coming to our show today, Ms. Animal.
You're welcome.
Do you have pets?
Yes. I have eight pets.
Wow!
I have a dog, two cats, a fish, a bird, a rat, a lizard and a spider.
Who do you have with you today?
I have my parrot and my dog.
I didn't bring my spider.
I'm glad!
We just saw Ms. Animal on Let's Talk!
Now Rob is the host of Let's Talk, and Ms. Animal is his guest today.
Rob says, "Thank you for coming to our show today." Now this is a nice thing for
a host to say to a guest.
Thank you for coming to our show today.
Then Rob interviews Ms. Animal.
One of his questions is our Useful Sentence Pattern today - Do you have...?
Rob says, "Do you have pets?" Does Ms. Animal have pets?
Yes, she does.
She does not only have one pet, she has many different pets.
She has a dog, two cats, a fish, a bird, a rat, a lizard and a spider.
Today she brought her dog and parrot.
A parrot is a kind of bird.
A parrot is a beautiful bird.
Parrots often have many different colors.
And Ms. Animal's parrot is beautiful.
Well friends, do you have something else you want to talk about in this
conversation?
Well, I do. Let's take a look at another sentence.
Ms. Animal says, "I didn't bring my spider." I didn't bring my...
I didn't bring my money today. Can you give me some?
I didn't bring my bag. I don't have my cell phone.
Well friends, we're going to continue learning with Conversation B.
I take good care of my pets.
What do you do?
I give them food and water every day.
They get exercise too. I walk with my dog.
Do they have a safe place to sleep?
Yes! They sleep with me!
All of them? Does the spider sleep with you?
No. The spider does not sleep with me!
Well, I'm glad Ms. A. does not sleep with her spider.
That would be a very unusual pet to sleep with.
It is very common or usual for some pets to sleep with you, like a dog or a cat,
but not an unusual pet, like a spider or a rat or a snake.
That would be kind of scary.
Well, at the beginning of this conversation, Ms. A. says, "I take good care of
my pets." I take good care of something.
We learned the key words before - I take care of something.
Now you can add the word "good." I take good care of my pets.
Or I take good care of my plants.
You can also say, "Please take good care of my car while I'm away." Or take care
of my things while I'm gone.
And Ms. A. takes good care of her pets.
She also says, "I give them food and water every day." I give them food and
water.
If you want to tell someone that you give your pets food and water, you can just
say, "I feed them." I feed them every day.
Or, I give them food and water every day.
She says, "I walk with my dog." She could also say, "I walk my dog." I walk with
my dog, or I walk my dog.
