(Music).
The game is called Two in One.
We want you to use two of today's key words in one sentence.
Now I'm going to try it.
And then it's Gabe's turn.
And then it's your turn.
OK, here is Two in One.
Carrie's goal is to eat only healthy food this month.
What were my key words, Gabe?
Well, your key words were "goal" and "healthy." And Andrea, I thought that was a
really, really good sentence.
Now it's my turn.
All right, here's my sentence.
Two key words in one sentence.
I just realized that I complain a lot.
Yeah.
What?
Well, I just realized that I complain a lot.
What were my two key words?
Oh, your two key words were "realize" and "complain." Good sentence.
Thank you.
But Gabe, you don't complain a lot.
I try not to complain.
I try to be thankful and not complain.
That's a great thought.
Well friends, you have a lot to learn.
Let's go to today's conversations.
Hey, Susie, what are you writing?
Your goals? Your shopping list?
No. I'm writing a list of things that I'm thankful for.
Oh. OK.
I'm reading this book called One Thousand Gifts.
That's a lot of gifts!
The writer realizes how many things she can be thankful for.
Then she writes them down.
Are other people doing this?
Yes! It's helping change people's thoughts... and their lives.
What is Susie writing in this conversation?
Is she writing her goals?
Is she writing her shopping list?
No. She is writing a different kind of list.
She is writing a list of things that she is thankful for.
Now I think we can learn a lot from what Susie is doing.
When you write a list, you write many things down one after another.
You can write a list on a piece of paper.
Or you can have a special book with lists in it.
Now you can write a list of your goals.
You can write a list of goals that you have set and goals that you want to
reach.
You can write a shopping list.
You can write down things that you need to buy at a store.
Your list might have apples and oranges, flower and eggs, maybe bacon and meat
on it.
That's a shopping list.
But of course, Susie is writing a list of things that she is thankful for.
She's thinking of all the things in her life that she can say "thank you" for,
all the things that she appreciates.
Now this is a good way to stay positive.
Why don't we all try it?
Let's write a list of things that we are thankful for.
I'm thankful that we can learn more with Christina.
Hey, you can write that on your list.
Let's go.
(Chinese).
And now let's continue with Conversation B.
How can it change people?
Well, for example, some people often complain.
They don't like their body.
I hear girls say that a lot.
They can stop and think, "My body is healthy. I'm thankful for that.".
That's good.
When you do this every day, you start a new habit.
You think about good things instead of bad.
Cool. Maybe I should start a thank-you list.
If you write down what you're thankful for on a thank-you list, it can really
change the way that you think.
Ken says, "It can change people?" Susie says, "Yes. For example, some people
often complain.
They don't like their body." Ken says, "I hear girls say that a lot." Girls say
that a lot.
What did they say?
I don't like my body.
I don't like the way that I look.
He says girls say that a lot.
Well, you can use this phrase in other ways.
Maybe someone says something a lot.
You can say, "Mom says that a lot," or "Dad says that a lot." You say that a
lot.
And Ken says that girls say something a lot.
Well, Susie says, "They can stop and think, 'My body is healthy.'" They can stop
and think.
Does this mean they're walking and then they stop?
No. It means that while they are living, they take time to think about something
that they don't normally think about.
You stop and think about something.
This is a good idea.
And maybe it's a good idea now for us to review our lesson.
Here we go.
At the start of a new year, many people want to make changes in their lives.
They set goals and think of ways to reach them.
Some people want to make physical changes, and become thinner or healthier.
But other people realize they need to change their thoughts.
They need to stop thinking negative thoughts and start thinking positive
thoughts.
They need to stop complaining and start being thankful.
Hey, Susie, what are you writing?
Your goals? Your shopping list?
No. I'm writing a list of things that I'm thankful for.

Calendar Phrase.
Be thankful.
Be thankful.
(Chinese).
Bad, bad, bad.
Stop complaining.
Be thankful.
OK. OK.
This place has good food to eat.
Yes. Be thankful.
This place has good water to drink.
Yes. Be thankful.
This place is a good place to play.
Yes. Be thankful.
And this place is a good place to sleep.
Yes. Be quite.
Be thankful.
Be thankful.
(Chinese).
And now it's time for today's "Answer it!" questions.
Here is the first one.
What is Susie writing?
Hmm, very, very good question.
What is Susie writing?
She is writing...
Uh, let me see if I can remember.
Do you remember?
She is writing her thank-you list.
That is a list of things she is thankful for.
And I am thankful for question number two.
Number two is: Do you think writing a thank-you list would help you? Why or why
not?
Andrea?
Hmm, this is a good question.
And my answer is yes.
I think writing a thank-you list would help me.
It's good to remember all the things you are thankful for.
One thing you can do is write a list of five things that you are thankful for
every day.
Do this at the end of the day.
It might be a good habit.
That's great.
Well friends, we want to thank you for joining us.
And we'll see you next time right here on Let's Talk...
In English.
Goodbye, everyone.
Goodbye.
(Music).
