(Music).
Welcome from the break, everyone.
Friends, if you have never seen Bianca Ryan perform, you have got to go online
after our program today and check her out.
There is no other way to say it.
You will be amazed at the voice of this young woman.
The control, the power and emotion of her singing voice is rarely heard in women
twice or three times her age.
She really is amazing.
Right now it’s time to check in on the Word Bank,
where we find the word:
dramatically.
The city’s crime rate dropped dramatically after the mayor increased the number
of police officers.
Next is the word:
pursue,
as in:
Glenn wants to pursue his goal of becoming a writer.
OK. Let’s get back to the lesson now.
It continues on line eleven.
Bianca Ryan: Born to Sing.
Since winning the contest, Bianca’s life has changed dramatically.
Her first CD, Bianca Ryan bebuted in November two thousand six.
Since then, she has made TV appearances, gone on American and European tours and
performed at Disneyworld.
Once when asked about advice for other kids, Bianca said:
”You have to... believe in yourself.
Get your parents to help you pursue your dream.
[Because] if you can see it, you can reach it.”.
Bianca sets a great example of what can happen when people reach for their
dreams!
(Music).
OK.
Welcome back.
Our article says:
Since winning the contest, Bianca’s life has changed dramatically.
Now the contest that we’re talking about here is America’s Got Talent.
So after she won America’s Got Talent, her life was dramatically different than
before.
And dramatically is one of our Word Bank words.
This is a great word to learn.
I... I know you might see that word ”drama” in there.
And it kind has something to do with the definition,
because if you have a lot of drama, then you might have a lot of change going on
in your life.
And so if something changes dramatically, it changes a lot.
It means it’s a significant change.
For example, sometimes the weather will change dramatically.
It might be really hot one day, and then the next day it’s really cold.
And so it’s a dramatic change.
So after her first CD was released and this happened in November two thousand
and six,
she became dramatically different becasue she became very famous.
Our article uses this word.
Her first CD debuted in November two thousand and six.
And this word ”debut” is the first official release or... first official
performance.
So we talk about a play bebuting.
It’s the first opening in this play.
And here we’re talking about her album when it was first released, first debuted
in November two thousand and six.
OK. So since her debut, she’s made several other TV appearances.
She’s gone on American and European tours.
So she’s toured around America and Europe,
performing at different places for different crowds.
And she’s also performed at Disneyworld.
Wow.
How exciting.
That must be every kid’s dream... is not just to go to Disneyworld but to be
able to perform there.
We have some really fun facts about Bianca.
And we’re going to share those with you now.
See if you can learn something new.
Fast facts about Bianca Ryan.
Bianca is three quarters Irish and one quarter Japanese.
When Bianca was three, she began dancing.
Bianca loves staying up late at night baking cookies, watching TV and having
friends over.
By April two thousand seven,
a video copy of Ryan’s audition, a performance of the song And I’m Telling You
I’m Not Going climbed into the top one hundred ”Top Rated in Music” videos on
YouTube.
So Bianca became very famous after her first album.
And once she became famous, many people wanted to ask her for advice.
They wanted her to give them some tips or some ideas about how they can improve
and maybe even how they can become like her.
So once when she was asked about advice from other kids, she said:
You have to believe in yourself.
You have to believe in yourself.
You have to believe that you can do what you want to do.
Yeah, believe that you are able to do that,
that you have the power or the intelligence to do what you want to do... to
achieve your goals.
It seems to me like one of the things that sets her apart maybe from other kids
is she has a lot of confidence in herself.
And probably at a young age, her parents noticed that and they encouraged that,
because notice the second part of her uh, advice.
It says that you need to get your parents to help you pursue your dream.
So I guess if your parents are willing to help you out,
and you have confidence in yourself and they have confidence in you,
nothing should stop you, right?
Exactly.
And you need to get your parents to help you,
because if your dream is something your parents don’t approve of or something
they don’t think is good,
well, they’re not gonna help you.
They’re not gonna give you money or take you to attend the classes you might
want to attend and help you reach that goal.
And your parents can help you sort of see if your goal is a good goal or maybe
your goal is impossible.
It’s not very realistic.
Maybe it’s even a bad goal when they can help steer you towards the right
direction.
OK.
Help you pursue your dream,
which means work towards or help you get to your goals or get to your dreams,
what that word pursue means.
So if you can see it, you can reach it.
She says.
Now if you can see your goals, if you can see them and imagine them,
then maybe you can reach them and actually achieve them.
And I think you need to have specific goals, right?
So maybe you start small.
Notice she started singing in church.
It wasn’t just she started singing in front of large groups of people when she
was young.
She started in church and gradually worked her way up.
And she probably had specific goals along the way.
So I agree with our author.
She sets a great example of what can happen when people reach for their dreams.
I think her story is inspiring.
I think we can learn from it and... and continue to follow her.
I’m sure she’ll keep singing for years.
So maybe some good advice for you is for you to take some time today and tell a
friend about your dreams,
maybe talk about what you dream of doing, what you want to do with your life,
and what you’ll need to do to achieve those goals, to achieve those dreams.
We’re going to say goodbye for the day.
And... but first we’re going to watch a skit.
Stay tuned.
