Hi, friends, welcome back from the break.
Well, Hollywood loves sequels.
One reason is movie studios don’t have to spend bucket loads of advertising
dollars trying to educate the public about the movie,
because audiences are already familiar with the sequel’s characters and plot
from the previous film.
Now the word ”sequel,” by the way, is a Latin word that means to follow.
And it has many, many English relatives, such as sequence, consequence, and
execution - to name just a few.
OK, let’s get back to talking about the fourth Shrek sequel on line 12.
Summer Movies.
In the movie, Shrek is an ordinary family man.
But he longs for the days when he was an ogre.
When Rumpelstiltskin gets into mischief and tricks Shrek, trouble begins.
Disney’s Toy Story 3 continues the story of Woody, Buzz and all their toy box
friends.
They end up at a daycare when Andy leaves for college.
New toys in the story include Ken, who is Barbie’s boyfriend, and Mr.
Pricklepants, a hedgehog toy.
Welcome back.
Before the break, we were starting to talk about the fourth Shrek movie, and we
saw that...
Actually, if you’ve seen any of the previous Shrek movies, you know that they’re
full of fairy-tale characters.
And this fourth Shrek movie called Shrek Forever After is no exception.
It also... or it, too, will have some more fairy-tale characters.
In this latest Shrek film, Shrek is an ordinary family man, but he longs for the
days when he was an ogre.
And if you’ve seen any of the Shrek movies, you know what an ogre is.
Shrek is an ogre.
And an ogre is... uh, traditionally a very mean character, a very large and
scary-looking character in children’s fairy tales.
And in the traditional fairy tales, an ogre would eat children.
Now fortunately, Shrek is not that type of an ogre; he’s a very kind and happy
and loving ogre.
And it says here that he longs for his days of being an ogre.
He misses being an ogre.
Right, he deeply desires to return to being an ogre, even though right now he’s
an ordinary family man.
So now that sounds like an interesting plot line.
Our, uh, article continues: When Rumpelstiltskin gets into mischief and tricks
Shrek, trouble begins.
So trouble begins when Rumpelstiltskin causes some mischief.
Now if you’re causing mischief or if you’re getting into mischief, you’re
intentionally... you’re trying to get into trouble.
Now Chelsea I know a lot of children... and actually, I have a confession to
make.
When I was a young boy, I... I like to get into mischief.
Now that doesn’t surprise me very much, Chip.
A lot of children like to get into mischief.
And it sounds like here that Rumpelstiltskin gets into mischief, which is not
very different than the original fairy tales starring Rumpelstiltskin.
Often, Rumpelstiltskin got into mischief in the fairy tale.
Now let’s move on to our next one.
I’m very excited about this next movie that’s coming out.
It’s Disney’s Toy Story 3.
And I absolutely loved the first two Toy Storys.
I think they’re so creative and so well done.
And this one continues the story, of course, of Woody, Buzz and all their toy
box friends.
Now, in this third story, these characters end up at a daycare when Andy leaves
for college.
Now if you’ve seen the first two Toy Story movies, you know that Andy is the
owner, or he’s the person who owns these toys.
Now if he’s taking them to a daycare, that means that he’s taking them to a
place where they can get taken care of.
A daycare... Uh, many parents out there might take their kids to a daycare when
they go to work.
So the parents will go to work, and then they will, uh, send their kids to the
daycare where the kids can get taken care of during the day.
Right, because kids go to daycare are too young to go to school, so instead of
going to school, they go to a daycare,
where daycare workers take care of them.
They make sure they’re fed.
They play games with them.
I’m sure it’s a lot of fun in a daycare, and a good place for toys.
And that is where these toys end up - in this daycare.
If something ends up somewhere, that means that it’s located in a certain place
or in a certain situation, maybe without having planned it that way.
Maybe if you’ve ever visited, uh, a new city, you end up on the wrong side of
town because you took a wrong turn.
Well, the same is true here.
These toys weren’t planning to end up in a daycare; they’ve always belonged to
Andy.
But now, because Andy has grown up, they have ended up in a new place, in a
daycare.
All right, well, in this story, we have Ken, who is Barbie’s boyfriend, and also
Mr. Pricklepants, who is a hedgehog toy.
Now I think a hedgehog is a... a very cute animal, usually.
Uh, I think they’re pretty cute, anyway.
A hedgehog is a... a small animal, uh, that has very sharp spines or very sharp,
uh, things coming out of its body.
And it protects itself by rolling up in a ball and sticking its spines out and
prick... pricking people.
So it might look very cute, but you wouldn’t want to go and pick it up because
you would end up getting hurt by its spines.
Possibly.
Right, and that’s of course one of the characters in the new Toy Story movie
that I am looking forward to seeing very much.
Well, right now we have some movie trailers for you to watch.
Let’s start out with the Iron Man 2 trailer.

all the lives the Stark family has destroyed.
There will be blood in the water and the sharks will come.

Then Shrek kissed the princess, she turned into a beautiful ogre, and they
lived...
Happily...
Ever...
After!
Hurray!
But alas, my dear friends, we have come to the final chapter.
I’m afraid our hero has fallen victim to a terrible curse.
Ahh...

Hollywood will look to turn the characters and setting into a movie franchise.
