(Music).
Hi, friends.
You made a great decision to come back after the break.
You know, I’m proud of you.
You have done a great job today.
And now it’s time to review.
(Music).
Pam!
I heard about your exciting trip to New York.
Oh. Well...
Amy told me you’re planning to fly.
Did you buy a ticket yet?
No.
Great.
I can get you a good deal on a train ticket.
No thanks.
The train is a wonderful way to travel.
You can enjoy the scenery on the way to the Big Apple.
Emma, the train does sound fun,
but I’m not going to New York.
You’re not?
No, I changed my mind again.
What do you mean ”again”?
For months, my mom and I planned to take a road trip together.
Where?
We were going to see her family in Norwood.
Oh, right.
I remember you talking about that.
But then my friend offered to have me visit her in New York.
So you changed your mind.
Right.
But last night I found out my mom won’t go to Norwood without me.
That made me sad.
So you changed your mind again.
Yes.
I have trouble making decisions.
Well, it sounds like this was a hard decision.
But I’m sure you made your mom happy.
Yeah.
I’m proud of you, Pam.
Thanks, Emma.
(Music).
(Chinese).
OK. That’s all for today.
I’m Christina.
And I’ll see you tomorrow.
I think it’s time for Inspector E.
(Music).
Inspector, how was your weekend?
Did you go anywhere special?
I went to visit my mother.
Oh, that’s good.
How is she?
She’s doing well.
She just moved into a new house.
Is that why you went to visit her?
Yes.
I helped her move last weekend.
You’re such a good son.
Oh, hello, everyone.
Thanks for joining us.
I’m Dr. English.
And I’m Inspector E.
We’re so glad you’re here.
This week, we talked about road trips and planning vacations.
Yes.
And there was a very useful phrase in our lesson.
Let’s listen to it again.
Norwood is a small town about six hours east of here.
Ah.
So where is Norwood?
It’s about six hours east of where Pam lives.
That’s right.
Now in this sentence, we hear two ways to tell someone where some place is.
First, let’s look at ”east of here”.
This phrase ”east of here” tells us that the place is to the east.
If we say some place is north of here, then we mean we have to go north to get
to it.
Right.
Now Pam also talks about Norwood being about six hours away.
Many times in English, people will use time to talk about how far a place is.
So when she says Norwood is about six hours away,
she means that she will need to drive six hours from where she lives to get to
Norwood.
Now I have a question for you.
If New York is a big city about two point five hours north of your town, then
where is your town?
Do you know?
Yes, it is two point five hours south of New York City.
Do you understand?
Oh, Inspector, I forgot to ask.
Where is your mother living now?
She lives about thirty seconds west of me.
Thirty seconds west?
I don’t understand.
She lives in my house.
She lives in the room next to mine.
Oh.
Very funny, Inspector.
Well, everyone, it’s time for us to go.
Remember, if you have a question...
We have an answer.
This is Inspector E.
And Dr. English saying...
See you next time.
Calendar Phrase.
We changed our plans.
We changed our plans.
(Chinese).
(Music).
My wife and I decided to go to Hawaii.
Hawaii is nice.
But we changed our plans.
We decided to go to California.
California is a great place.
Yes it is.
But we changed our plans.
Oh.
And decided to go to Japan instead.
Japan is fun!
Yeah.
But we changed our plans again.
So where did you finally decide to go?
To the movies!
Do you want to come too?
Sure. I’d love to.
We changed our plans.
We changed our plans.
(Chinese).
Welcome, everyone.
O’Hi is here again to help us practice our Question of the Day.
So let’s look at today’s question together.
When do you have trouble making decisions?
When do you have trouble making decisions?
O’Hi, can you answer that for us?
Well, let’s see.
When do I have trouble making decisions?
Let me see if I can decide when.
Sometimes it’s when uh, I like a lot of the things and I can’t choose which one.
And well, I... all the time.
OK.
Yeah, O’Hi, it seems like you just had a hard time making the decision to know
what to say.
Yeah, that’s right.
I always have trouble.
So a lot of times I can’t make the right decision.
OK.
Well, I understand that and thank you for sharing.
Thank you, everyone, for joining us at the mall.
Practice this question with someone today.
And then we will see you tomorrow. Goodbye.
Goodbye, everybody.
