Welcome back, everybody.
Food trucks are being used to cater events like weddings, school dances and
birthday parties.
There are even food truck festivals where dozens of food trucks get together,
and they park in one location so people can walk around and sample different
foods.
OK. Let's get back to our lesson on line 12 and find out what tasty treats are
on Chirba Chirba's menu.

Chirba Chirba: Dumplings on the Go.
Chirba Chirba uses their website, Facebook and Twitter to tell the public the
truck's next stop.
Chirba Chirba's four partners became friends at the University of North
Carolina.
They all love Asian street food and decided to start a business.
Chirba Chirba, which means "eat, eat" in Mandarin, serves genuine Chinese
dumplings and other Chinese dishes.
The owners, who have traveled to China many times, wish to offer American people
a taste of traditional Chinese food.
They want their name and food to inspire warm feelings.
Chirba Chirba gives Americans a taste of Chinese food and culture.
Friends, maybe you are hungry but you're not interested in actually traveling to
a restaurant.
Well, maybe you can let the restaurant travel to you.
With Chirba Chirba dumplings, their food trucks are becoming a new trend where
they travel the country.
And you can check a website to find out when they are near you.
That's right.
So maybe you're in North Carolina, you want to try this but you don't know where
the truck is because the location is always changing.
You can visit their website, Facebook and Twitter to tell you where the next
public... tell the public where the next truck stop will be.
So since it is moving, you want to find it, check the Internet.
Exactly. You can check their website, or things like Facebook and Twitter.
And a "website" is a place on the Internet, or usually we can say it's a group
of pages on the Internet that you can visit.
So for example, Google is a website.
Facebook is a website.
And Chirba Chirba has their own website as well.
That's right.
They have a daily schedule available for you to look at to know where they plan
on being.
But if a last-minute change happens, they change where they're going to be right
near the time that it should be happening,
you can check their Facebook and Twitter and find out exactly where they'll be.
Now Kaylah, this is great.
I don't use Twitter, but I do use Facebook.
And I have a smartphone.
I can just pull out my phone, find out where they are and check where the
truck's next stop will be.
I think this is a brilliant use of technology to use it to combine with the
traditional food truck and making it up-to-date.
And modern is brilliant!
Well, let's see who had the idea.
OK. Well, Chirba Chirba's four partners became friends at the University of
North Carolina.
That's right.
Now all four of them are pictured on page 45 laying on the truck that we were
talking about earlier.
Exactly.
So they all met in university, and they all love Asian street food and decided
to start their own business.
Now I think that if you ask anybody who's visited Asia, no matter where they're
from,
they would agree that Asian street food is some of the best in the world.
OK. Well, they chose the name Chirba Chirba, which means "eat, eat" in Mandarin,
as you know.
And they serve genuine Chinese dumplings and other Chinese dishes.
Now "Chirba Chirba" would be an Englis... American English translation of how we
correctly say it not using the tones because we don't use tones in English.
Yeah. Our Chinese isn't the best.
But we do use that name because it is Chinese food, authentic, or real, Chinese
food.
That's right.
They're serving authentic, or very much like that food, exactly matching.
Exactly. And so here they wanted to offer these dishes to people in North
Carolina and wherever the truck may go.
That's right.
Well, the owners who have traveled to China many times wish to offer the
American people a taste of traditional Chinese food.
Now friends, if you've never been to the United States, you might not know that
Americans change Chinese food a lot.
It doesn't actually taste like genuine traditional Chinese food.
Yes. And I don't think it's as delicious as genuine, or real, Chinese food.
And here we're using the word "traditional." What does that mean?
Traditional means the way they have done things or continue to do things for
through history and up till now.
It's the process, the way we do it.
OK. So that is actually, I think, better tasting.
And I think they agree, and they want to offer that real good, genuine Chinese
food in the United States.
Now they want their name and food to inspire warm feelings.
So they want to bring traditional genuine Chinese gourmet dishes to the United
States but also want it to feel warm and welcoming.
Ryan, when you think of food trucks, do you usually think of something that is
very welcoming and clean and traditional?
Usually not at all.
Like you said before, food trucks, usually in our minds, we think of fast food.
We think it's kind of a little dirty, not very delicious but it's cheap.
But these are cheap, well, also being warm.
Now to be "warm" means it is friendly and loving.
It brings about good feelings.
It's very welcoming.
And usually food trucks don't feel like that because they're dirty.
We think of them as being dirty and bugs are in them, and they're gross.
But this one is very clean and very welcoming.
You can see even just by the colors of their truck, it's something that stands
out and somewhere you want to go.
Yes. Now these four partners did travel to China several times, and they got to
experience the culture there.
And so they wanted to give Americans not only a taste of the food, but also a
taste of Chinese culture.
That's right. And they do that by providing Chinese street food in an American
city.
I think it's a great idea.
And I know that if I'm in Durham, North Carolina, I will definitely be checking
for the Chirba Chirba truck.
