Hi, everybody.
Welcome back from the break.
For movie executives, every movie is a business gamble.
Right? They're either going to make money or lose money.
That's why Hollywood studios love sequels.
They are a safer investment and they save advertising dollars.
So if sequels are good, then threequels should be even better, right?
OK. Let's look at our next summer threequel, Men in Black III, on line 15.
Summer at the Cinema.
In Men in Black III, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones return as Agents J and K to
fight the ongoing battle against extraterrestrial invaders.
Details of the film's plot are being kept secret, but it is known that Josh
Brolin will play a young version of Agent K.
Christian Bale returns as Batman in The Dark Knight Rises, the third entry in
director Christopher Nolan's Batman series.
This time, Gotham City is threatened by a terrorist character named Bane.
Anne Hathaway co-stars as Catwoman, and Michael Caine reprises his role as
Alfred the butler.
(Music).
We're looking at a summer of threequels.
And our next movie falls into that category as well.
That's right.
This threequel is Men in Black III.
Will... and in this movie, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones return as Agents J and
K to fight the ongoing battle against extraterrestrial invaders.
Now we have seen two parts of this movie series already: Men in Black I, and Men
in Black II.
And it's exciting to see them come back to fight these extraterrestrial invaders
because it's not something we see very often.
Exactly. That's what these movies are all about is fighting these
extraterrestrials.
And that word "extraterrestrial," uh, it's very long; but it means anything that
does not come from Earth.
It comes from somewhere in space, aliens.
That's right. It is something alien.
And these movies are fun because they're about extraterrestrials, but they're
not very scary.
They are more funny.
Yeah. They're more funny even though they're about invaders, which are anything
that comes and tries to attack and live somewhere where something else is.
So it seems like it could be scary, but really, it's more funny.
That's right.
But there are details of the film, the plot is really being kept a secret.
So we know the baseline, we kind of know what the story will be about, but don't
have any idea what the plot will be.
Yeah. I've seen the trailer.
You don't really know what's going to happen.
But one thing we do know is that Josh Brolin will play a young version of Agent
K.
And this is a character that has been in the other two films.
Well, I'm excited to see for... because this is still a mystery.
We'll have to see what they have in store for us.
Well, what is our next third sequel?
All right. Our next "threequel" stars Christian Bale, and he returns as Batman
in The Dark Knight Rises.
Now we've seen two movies with The Dark Knight theme.
Now these are very exciting and very high technology movies for Batman, the...
the superhero that we all know and love.
And I definitely enjoy these as well.
Yeah. And the second movie broke records.
It was one of the most popular movies when it came out.
So this third movie should be good.
And it's directed by Christopher Nolan who has directed the Batman series.
That's right.
There are multiple Batman series that have been created.
This is the third in Christopher Nolan's Batman series.
Now this time Gotham City, which is where Batman lives, is threatened by a
terrorist character named Bane.
Hmm. Now this sounds a little bit different from the usual Batman story that has
the Joker in it.
This sounds like it could be very interesting, though.
Now Anne Hathaway, she co-stars as Catwoman.
Now if someone co-stars, what does that mean?
That means they are also in a leading role.
They are another famous person playing a leading role.
And Anne Hathaway is definitely a famous character.
I'm excited to see Catwoman.
She is from the original comic strips.
So I'd be excited to see how that goes.
Yeah. I think a lot of us are excited to see this addition to the Batman movies.
Now also, Michael Caine reprises his role as Alfred the butler.
That's right.
And to "reprise" means to repeat something.
So he is the character again.
He has been this character two other times.
He was Alfred the butler.
So we're excited to see him play his third time around.
Michael Caine is a very talented actor.
So that'll be great.
That's right.
I know I'm very excited to see this movie; and I know a lot of you are probably
excited as well.
All right. Now let's take a sneak peek at this trailer for Men in Black III.
Who are we?
We... are no-one.
Our mission is to monitor extraterrestrial activity on Earth.
Knuckles, you know you're not supposed to be north of Canal Street.
Who is Knuckles?
Just relax, punk.
They're looking for me, not you.
Crazy, right?
Two grown men talking to the wall, wall talking back... It's a mess.
Hey! Don't even worry about it.
Incident report.
Access denied.
There are things out there you don't need to know.
That's not the lie you told me when you recruited me.
Promise you the secrets of the universe, nothing more.
Well, what other secrets are there?
K. K... I'm looking for K.
Have you seen him?
Sort of a surly, older gentleman?
He smiles like this...
K has been dead for over 40 years.
Here, take this.
Now all you have to do is jump.
You want me to jump?
Time jump.
(Music).
K?
How do you know my name?
Hi, everyone. I'm Michelle.
(Chinese).
And that concludes our Language Tips today.
I'll see you tomorrow.
Bye-bye.
