Here's a question for you.
What's your idea of the perfect vacation, activity-filled or relaxed?
Either way, the scenery should be nice, right?
Somewhere near the ocean or the mountains would be great.
And the weather should be pleasant too.
Does such a place exist?
Of course.
We're talking about Croatia's Dalmatian Coast.
Now we still have a little more to finish up from yesterday's heading, Things to
do.
After we wrap that up, we'll figure out where we should stay starting on page
25.

If you're feeling brave, go diving.
Near Mljet Island is a third-century Roman shipwreck you can explore.

Thank you so much for joining us.
My name is Kaylah.
And my name is Ryan.
And we are now back in day three of our TRAVEL article looking again at
Dalmatia.
That's right.
Now we've been exploring the Croatian coastline for a couple of days.
And Ryan, I feel like this is somewhere I definitely would like to visit.
It does seem like a lot of fun, and it is very beautiful.
And yesterday we were seeing a little bit of what you can do there:
anything from tours where you can explore the different cities, and watch people
dance wearing traditional costumes to even going out on the water.
Even you can take large boats and visit different islands.
Sounds great.
But there's even more!
If you're feeling brave, go diving.
Ooh, I love diving.
Now the word "diving" can refer simply to jumping in to water.
But Kaylah, I don't think that's what it's talking about here.
What is this talking about?
This is talking more about scuba diving when you go underwater and you swim
underwater with a... an air pack on your back for an extended period of time.
So you do not surface.
Instead, your air is on your back; you wear special equipment.
It's a very popular activity.
And Ryan, I'm pretty sure you do that.
Actually, I do. I have my scuba license.
And so that means I go diving, and I can go wherever I want in the world to go
diving.
Well, it looks like you need to go to Croatia.
I know! We keep saying that.
We should go.
So this is another fun way if you're feeling brave.
So maybe if you're wanting to try something new, if you haven't gone diving
before, this would be a great chance for you.
Well, they even suggest a good place to go.
It's near Mljet Island.
It's a third-century-old Roman shipwreck that you can explore.
Now this really sounds very cool to me.
Uh, shipwrecks, of course, we've learned before, are referring to when a ship
crashes and sinks beneath the water.
But this isn't just any shipwreck, it's a third-century Roman shipwreck that you
can dive down to and explore.
That's right.
You can go down, and it's been down there so long that there's all kinds of
wildlife around it.
Well, you could do this for the day.
And then end your day with a ride in the Dubrovnick Cable Car up Srd Hill.
OK. And a cable car here is referring to... kind of like a train that is pulled
by a cable.
What is a cable?
A cable is a very thick, rope-typed thing made out of metal.
It's a bunch of strands wound together - so a lot of small ones twisted together
to make a strong, large rope.
All right.
So you can ride this type of train up to the top of Srd Hill where you can then
enjoy some dinner and enjoy the view of the city and the sea.
Wow! This sounds amazing.
The more we study about this, the more interested I get in going.
You can spend the day on the water exploring under the ocean, and then go up to
the top of a mountain and watch as the sun sets.
It would just be beautiful.
Yes, it does sound amazing, so.
We've learned a lot about uh... the history of Croatia and the history of
Dalmatia.
We've seen a lot of the things that you can do when you're traveling to
Dalmatia,
with the different tours, you can enjoy the water, enjoy the food and some of
the view.
But now we want to know, well, where can you stay.
That's right.
If I'm going, I need somewhere to stay.
Well, we have some options here.
Make the most of your Dalmatian vacation with just the right place to stay.
That's true, Ryan.
If you stay in a bad location while you're out on vacation, you don't relax, you
don't get to enjoy the things.
Maybe you're not near things you want to be exploring.
So picking a good place is important.
Yes. And here we see you want to pick a place that is just right, or just the
right place.
Something that is "just right" means it is perfect.
Oh. Well, then look for the perfect location to stay.
Now depending on who you are and how you like to travel, depends on what you
think is the perfect place,
and Dalmatia definitely offers something for all of us.
That's right.
So are you looking for somewhere that is "luxurious"? - which is referring to
something that is very comfortable and expensive.
That's right. We talked about the word "luxury" last month.
Here is the advjective, luxurious.
It is very, very rich and fancy, and it's something you probably spend a lot of
money on.
That's right.
So maybe if this is something you're looking for, then there are hotels on the
beach and spas that promise a quiet, relaxing visit.
That's right.
They can offer these luxurious spas.
And now "spas" are where you go to relax and have special treatments to your
skin to help you calm and relax out your body.
This sounds like a great way to have a relaxing visit to the Dalmatian Coast.
Yeah. Now actually this is the way my family usually likes to enjoy vacations.
So I might recommend this to them.
They can go relax and just enjoy the beach.
