Hello, friends. Welcome back.
Thank you for joining us as we wrap up our last part of our Kruger National Park
article.
We've talked a lot about this park, all the things that you can do and see here.
And right before the break, we mentioned an eco trail for motorized vehicles.
This is a well-established trail and an exciting way to see the park.
We're going to learn more about it.
So join us on line 7.
(Music).
Kruger National Park: It's Wild.
This trail follows the eastern border for 500 kilometers.
You need five days to travel the entire route, and you must provide your own
vehicle and food.
Only five vehicles can travel the rugged trail at a time, led by a knowledgeable
guide.
Nothing can compare to the adventure of roaming the bush in an open vehicle and
splashing across rivers and streams.
There is no bad way to experience the park.
The stunning scenery and rich animal life will amaze you.
You may never want to visit another zoo!
(Music).
The Lebombo Motorized Eco Trail is for four-wheel vehicles to explore Kruger
National Park.
Now this trail follows the eastern border for 500 kilometers.
Wow! So it is pretty long - for 500 kilometers along the eastern border of
Kruger National Park.
You need five days to travel the entire route.
Now that sounds absolutely like so much fun to do.
Yes, it does.
It sounds like it would be incredible, and it's a long journey too.
So if you're wanting to see many things, you have five days to enjoy this
adventure.
That's right.
I'm sure you could see all different kinds of terrain and different animals.
And you know, you must provide your own vehicle and food.
So it's not like you can just walk up and borrow one.
You do need to have your own vehicle.
But if you do, it's completely worth it to experience this adventure.
Yes. Now of course, you would want to make sure your vehicle is four-wheel drive
because if it is not,
you would have a hard time getting through some of the rough terrain.
That's right.
Only five vehicles can travel the rugged trail at a time, led by a knowledgeable
guide.
So this trail is motorized, you... do drive your own vehicle, but only five
vehicles are allowed at a time.
Right. And this is similar to the number of people allowed while mountain
biking.
You want to make sure there are not too many people there.
That's right. And you have to have a knowledgeable guide.
This is a very rough trail, you need someone who can help you.
Right. And it's a very rugged terrain.
And of course, something that is "rugged" is meaning that it has very rough
edges or very sharp edges.
You might think of a knife that is old might have rugged edges on it.
Of course, if you're talking about a rugged trail, it means it could be hard to
travel on.
It has many edges.
That's right, lots of ups and downs and rocks and trees and everything in the
way,
but well worth the trip with a knowledgeable guide.
You know, nothing can compare to the adventure of roaming the bush in an
open-air vehicle.
Hmm. That does sound nice.
To feel the wind in your hair, to hear the sounds of the lions nearby, it would
be a lot of fun to roam through the bush.
What does that mean?
To "roam" means to wander, to walk through to...
And here we see "drive through" means to about, to experience, to just be a part
of the "bush" here - refers to the nature again.
Of course, you could explore the many different parts or the many trails through
Kruger National Park.
And you can enjoy the open-air and maybe slash across rivers and streams.
Now most four-wheel drive vehicles do have the ability to be open-air, which
means there's not... they're not fully enclosed.
They have open space, so you can be a part of the nature as well.
And as you drive with a four-wheel drive vehicle through a river, you can get
splashed and very wet.
So it's definitely an adventure, not something you have to... you can do if
you're...
if you want to stay very clean because it's very adventurous.
That's right. Most of the ways to enjoy Kruger National Park involve maybe
getting a little bit dirty.
You can go rough it, stay outside, sleep under the stars and enjoy the tents.
Right. But you know, there's really no bad way to experience the park.
That's right, yeah. That's what it says here.
There's not that many bad ways, or any bad way to experience this park.
Now let's join Liz with Grammar on the Go.
Hello, friends.
Greetings from Kruger Park.
My name is Liz, and it's time for Grammar on the Go.
In today's article we read:
There is no bad way to experience the park.
That's our Grammar Tip sentence.
Notice the phrase at the beginning of the sentence, there is no bad way.
It's a very cute and clever way to say no matter how you experience the park,
every way is fine.
In other words, you can't go wrong no matter how you choose to experience the
park.
Use this phrase "there is no bad way to" when you want to let people know how
something can be done in so many ways.
For example, let's say a certain fashion designer came up with a unique kind of
scarf that can be worn in so many ways.
So we can say: There is no bad way to wear this new kind of scarf.
Or when it comes to certain food items, like nuts, that could be prepared and
eaten in so many ways, we can say:
There is no bad way to eat nuts.
If you'd like to see some more example sentences,
then check out today's Grammar Tip section in your Studio Classroom magazine.
That's all the time we have for today.
Thanks again for joining me here.
This is Liz with Grammar on the Go signing off.
Bye-bye.
Thank you, Liz.
There really is no bad way to experience this park.
So far, really, everything has sounded like a great option to me.
That... yeah. You can stay outside, you can enjoy maybe some luxurious homes.
Or you can go rough it with a vehicle and a four-wheel drive or ride mountain
bikes.
These are really fun, exciting ways to experience the park.
That's right. And it's a way to be a part of the nature.
You get to experience it.
It seems like a great family adventure to go see that.
I know, as a child, if I'd had the opportunity, I would have loved to see all
these big animals.
So I'm sure children love this just as much as adults.
There really is something for everyone.
That is true.
Now we see the stunning scenery and rich animal life will amaze you.
Now the word "stunning" here, it means extremely beautiful, so beautiful that
we... maybe you are stunned.
And when you are stunned, that means you stop exactly where you are because it's
so incredible, you have to look at how beautiful it is.
Now maybe you would say a bride on her wedding day is very stunning.
Now that is something very beautiful.
Yeah. Now have you ever seen any of the wild animals that you can find in Kruger
National Park, Kaylah?
Well, not in the wild.
I've seen them maybe in a zoo.
Yeah. And were you stunned?
Hmm... maybe not really.
Maybe not really.
Maybe you would be more stunned if you saw these animals in the wild.
You might never want to visit another zoo again.
I think that's very true.
I think that if I saw them out in the wild and experiencing their own lives that
a zoo just wouldn't feel the same anymore.
That's true. You see them kind of in cages, and you don't really feel like they
are in the wild.
They are in their home habitat, or their home area, and so you don't feel as
amazed.
So you might want to visit Africa.
That's right. I would visit Africa if I could.
Although a zoo right now is a little more convenient.
That's true. It is much easier to travel to the zoo.
But of course, if you want a real adventure, as you know, we've seen over the
last few days, you should visit Kruger National Park.
That's right. Kruger National Park has something for everyone,
for all of our adventurous sides as well as for our family's adventures.
We hope you've enjoyed learning about Kruger National Park.
Stay tuned for Michelle's Language Tips.
Hi, everyone. I'm Michelle.
(Chinese).
And I guess we have to say goodbye now.
I'll see you tomorrow.
Bye-bye.
Many people ask what's the best time of year to visit Kruger National Park.
Well, it's really hard to say because each season is special.
The wintertime, for example, with its sparse vegetation, offers the best chance
of seeing the animals.
In contrast, the wet summer season has full water holes, which of course, the
animals love.
It's also the time when the migrant birds arrive.
So I guess what I'm saying is no matter when you go, you will not be
disappointed.
Friends, have a relaxing weekend.
And then join us Monday when we talk about how buying a pair of shoes can change
somebody's life.
Until then, bye-bye.
