U n i t 1 0 Wi n d (Period 1) I. Teaching objectives: (1) Students can initially perceive and read the key words: blow, gently, softly, strongly, happily, move, slowly, quickly. (2) Students can use the adverbs and understand sentence patterns. e.g. The children are flying their kites happily. (3) Students can learn that every coin has two sizes. II. Important and difficult points: 1. Students can understand and master the core vocabulary and use sentence patterns in the context. 2. Students can distinguish the usage of adverbs and adjectives. III. Teaching aids: PPT, cards, pictures. IV. Teaching procedures: Part 1: Lead in 1. Sing a song. 2. A riddle: It’s wind. 3. What do you know about wind? Part 2: Presentation 1: Look and talk about the picture. 2. Listen to the story. 3. Answer the questions: What happened in the story? Does everyone like the wind? 4. Let’s read again and answer two more questions. What are the flowers doing when the wind is blowing gently? The wind is blowing strongly. How is the windmill moving? 5. Listen and read the poem passionately one sentence by one sentence. Teach the key words: strongly, gently, quickly, slowly, softly, happily… 6. Play the missing game. Part3: Consolidation 1/ 2 1. The wind was invited to the party. Look and talk about the picture. Then students write the sentences on the paper. 2. Watch a video about the dangerous wind. Try to be the weather reporter. 3. Every coin has two sides. But try to be helpful to others. Part 4: Homework: What else do you know about the wind? Write down on the paper. V.Blackboard Design: 2/ 2
