《A funny story》教师自我反思
深圳市博伦职业技术学校 李霖馨
According to the self-evaluation, the whole class is able to retell the six steps to continue a
story. Besides, 80% of the students can know what to do if they want to get the main ideas and
details of a passage. 65% of the students can apply the tips to inferring the passage. They can
basically finish the reading task, but the main points is how to turn their information from reading
into writing. By checking their homework (continue the story), their average score is 11, out of 25.
This means that still not all students are able to complete the story logically. Also, their basic
English literacy affects the final results.
Due to the variety of passage, different stories may have different themes and development,
so it is not easy to analyze the given sentences when inferring the passage by using some common
tips. Students still needs more practice if they want to come up with reasonable questions that can
help them understand the story development. In this case, there is no common tips for them to
infer the passage. What teachers and students should do is to apply theory to practice.
To improve my lesson, I think I should provide a class focus on how to infer the development
more instead of how to read and how to infer. Only in this way students can have more time to
explore the passage and experience it deeply and thoroughly. I will try to provide stories with
different themes to help them practice. What’s, more, I also need to assess and analyze their
homework in detail, so that students can know how to improve their work.
